Deputy FM Ayalon meets Turkish journalists 6Dec09
Mediation is increasingly being used as an alternative to costly and drawn out trials. People who specialize in mediation use an arbitration process to help two parties to come to a mutually beneficial agreement without the use of judges and courts. Besides the huge legal costs involved in court cases, mediation has the main benefit of bringing two parties together in a forum that allows for discussion and agreement rather than hostility. The nature of the trial itself, which pits two parties against each other tends to bring out resentment and divisiveness, and if the trial involves a large company, not only the litigators are affected, but the employees, the shareholders, and the public image of the company and people involved as well. There are a few good ethical guidelines that mediators are required to follow, and there is one especially important legal caveat that must be followed. Mediators primarily help people resolve disputes. They try to foster communication between two parties by facilitating understanding, and they attempt to look for common ground on which to base the parties' agreements. Unlike the legal process, mediation is entirely voluntary, which is one of the reasons why mediation tends to yield better results than trials. First and foremost, a mediator is responsible for making sure that everyone knows what the mediator's role is in the process. A mediator will also ensure that everyone knows exactly how the process will unfold and what the terms of the settlement are for both parties. This keeps the process transparent and ensures that everyone feels they have equal footing in the process and that no one is gaining an unfair advantage by virtue of the fact that a mediation is taking place at all. Mediators will also let both parties know the likely court outcome should the process fail to reach an agreement between both parties. Having gotten the two parties to sit down, it is very important that a mediator work to keep the dynamic of the process focused on the voluntary nature of the proceedings. Sometimes in the case of mediation that is ordered by the courts, one party may feel that it is an involuntary process, and a mediator who is sensitive to this dynamic will explore every way to ensure that all parties feel equally empowered throughout the process. It goes without saying that for any given mediation process a mediator should be prepared. However, this extends to providing all proper documentation and information to both parties at all stages of the process. For the mediator who is physically or mentally unable to meet this requirement, or for the mediator who feels that they cannot prepare adequately, ethically they are required to recuse themselves from the process. Confidentiality is crucial to a mediated dispute. The mediator is required to explain all of the rules, laws, and agreements that are incumbent on the process and that prohibit the sharing outside of the mediation any offer, document, or statement made within the mediation process. The mediator has to maintain the confidences of all parties, and they especially are required to ensure the confidentiality of any third parties that may be involved. This includes using information for personal gain or for leverage in the mediation process. Mediation works far better in most cases as an alternative to trials. It can save a lot of money. It also works well to build personal relationships between disputing parties, and best of all it saves time.

I love PR (public relations)
One of the most important assets that someone can have in the world today is effective communication. So much of the world that we live is shaped by directed communication. Advertising uses communication to create demand that was not there before in order to generate sales and revenues for companies and corporations. Television and film use communication to influence our desires and entertain us. We are regularly inundated with products and services that compete for our attention, and each new product and service must be able to be heard over the increasingly crowded communication spaces of our lives. This is where effective communication is an asset to someone looking to succeed, whether in business or in entertainment.
When considering career options for the communications major, it can seem that there may not be relevant fields that scream communications to the potential communications major. But communications should be understood as an important part of an interdisciplinary toolset in the same way that a liberal arts education provides students with a model for creatively thinking and understanding the western educational heritage. Without the ability to effectively communicate and shape viewpoints and perspectives through effective communication, businesses and organizations are not able to compete with their messages.
Fluid communication across many technological platforms is an issue relevant to the communications major today. For instance, many companies employ communications managers. These individuals are responsible for developing and implementing a company's comprehensive communication strategy. Since brand identity is a way that company's communicate those strategies to the consumer, the communications manager needs to develop their platform across many different media outlets. These include the web, print media, broadcasting, and the ever increasing and relevant social media. Social media in particular requires a good communications understanding since social media responds to rapidly changing social forces, and the ways that people connect to one another through various social media platforms is shaped by their cultural preferences, their group interests, and their motivations as both consumers and member of that "tribe". The communications manager of a company will have an understanding of this social landscape so as to better direct their company's message to its potential consumers.
Of course this kind of effective communication can be done in more than a corporate context. Public relations managers are also responsible to their clients and acting as a kind of translator between the public and the person or group they represent. The important thing to understand in this context is that public relations managers are also often responsible for damage control in the event of scandals and crises, and they need to use good communication to shape public opinion to their cause and support. Not everyone in communications will find themselves in the limelight, but businesses require people to give presentations and pitches, and advertisers create communication in the form of advertising. The point is that everyone will find themselves in a situation where they will need to use communication skills to influence an outcome. For someone considering a communications major, there is plenty of opportunity to use those skills in the world we live.

One of the most frustrating things in the world is to wake up with 50 emails, and 30 of them are spam. You’re a busy person, and sorting through junk mail isn’t something that you want (or are even able) to make time for. Want to avoid the spam? Try these three things!

1. 1.) Set Up Filters in Your Email

Is ImReallyAnnoying@spam.com emailing you incessantly? Check your email provider about how to filter out certain messages. You can often choose to have them filtered out by the subject line (or certain words in the subject line), the sender, or some other factor. On top of that, you can pick which folder to filter them to, like the TRASH! It might take a little time, but it’s better to spend an hour on email filters now to save you a whole love of time (and frustration) in the future.
Obviously, there’s one downfall here: Oftentimes, one sender will contact you with a different email address every time, doing so on purpose to avoid these very filters. The good news is that your email might easily suspect that the message is bogus and will automatically mark it as spam—or even better, send it to your spam folder automatically—so that you don’t have to be bothered with even reading it.

1. 2.) Keep a List of Every Account You Create—Period

Every time you turn around, you’re creating a new username and password for something. This has become necessary (to an extent) and it’s understandable that you might lose track of all of your accounts. The solution? Make a list!
This helps you do more than remember all of your accounts. Should one of these websites start spamming the heck out of you, you’ll know how to get back to their site, how to sign in, and how to delete your account or unsubscribe from their messages. After that, they should never be able to contact you again. Problem: solved!

1. 3.) Don’t Give Out Your Contact Information Willy-Nilly

Websites waste no time in asking for your phone number, physical address, email address, and other contact information; but there’s a way to go about answering their requests without totally leaving yourself exposed. Create a separate email address entirely for accounts that are just “extras,” meaning nothing essential that is imperative for you to receive immediately.
You can also avoid giving your phone number out. Putting something like “NA” usually won’t work, since your input has to be numeric. So, make it numeric, just like you’re being asked to: 000-000-0000.
You will never be able to avoid spam mail 100%--it’s just the nature of the beast; but with this advice, you can certainly cut back on it substantially. Always remember that the best solution is to prevent the problem in the first place: Be careful of who you give your information to!
